Born and raised in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Gustavo Caldas is proud to embody and communicate the spirit of our afro-brazilian culture. Hailing from a long line of capoeiristas, Gustavo has been training in music, dance and capoeira since he was a child as a disciple student of his uncle Leandro Caldas aka Mestre Pissiquinho. Gustavo has been teaching and performing for over 17 years to people of all ages. His unique talent has allowed him to tour around the world with Balé Folclório da Bahia, Brazil's premier dance company in traditional Afro-Brazilian Folkloric dance, and many other prestigious dance companies. As a founder and director he continues to travel all around the world achieving his mission to bring our communities together with Arts of Brazil.
We offer capoeira, afro-brazilian music and dance of orixás, percussion, samba, samba-reggae, puxada-de-rede, maculelê and many other prestigious dance styles. You’ll learn how to play berimbau, pandeiro, agogô, atabaques, repique, caixa, marcação dobrada, fundo, timbau e muito mais.

Arts of Brazil shares the authentic afro-brazilian music, dance, capoeira and entertainment from all around the world. We are based in NYC and we travel world wide sharing our rhythms and keeping our cultures alive. We bring to you the most brilliant shows from a private performance to a wonderful presentation in theaters such as Radio City, Lincoln Center and more.
Along with our finger printed teaching and performing artists we are always beyond happy to work in universities and schools because besides of teaching them, them music, drum and body percussion, singing, dancing, playing and capoeira we also learn from them every time discovering their natural talents in our interactive games at Bank Street School, Ellis Internacional High School, SUNY New Paltz, Marist College, Western Connecticut State University and others.

Arts of Brazil looks forward to sharing our culture with you all.
We are organizing our cultural trip to the heart of Brazil which is Salvador, BAHIA, Brazil’s first capital. We will also introduce you to Praia do Forte, where you will see the wild sea turtles, visit natives in their villages and communities, Pelourinho, which is the historical center, Ilha de Itaparica, located 12 km across the Bay of All Saints known as Baía de Todos os Santos, museums, the most beautiful sunset at Solar do Unhão, our community, and more. We will provide the plane ticket, afro-brazilian music, dance, capoeira, BJJ and swimming practices, an English and Spanish translator, a home and breakfast all included. Since we know you will be there to explore the best of Brazil and enjoy it all the best way you can, all activities are optional.
